Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, two of the biggest action stars in the history of the genre, with such films as the Rocky and Rambo series, the Terminator series, Predator, Total Recall and of course The Expendables trilogy under their respective belts, they are definitely two names that come to mind when thinking of action movie icons. And despite being well over sixty (closer to their seventies actually), both actors are still working. Arnie has Maggie and Terminator Genisys coming out this year, and Stallone has Rocky spin-off Creed coming out at the end of the year.
So while they may be old, and certainly their best movies have already been made, they’re still big stars. Legends of the action genre, you’d think they’d be expensive to hire. But apparently Warburtons and Compare the Market can afford them, because recently Stallone appeared in an advert for Warburtons bread, and Arnie for Compare the Market.
Okay then… why? Well bugger me if I know. Arnie has been advertising his new Terminator movie, that is true. They’ve released the trailer, and WWE inducted Arnie into their hall of fame and had him appear at their biggest show of the year, Wrestlemania (basically their Superbowl) all just to advertise the film which will be released late June/early July, so that could explain his appearance in the Compare the Market advert, but Creed won’t be out until November, and that’s in America, so us here in the UK might have to wait until December, which, in case you weren’t aware, is ages away. That means the only other explanation is whoever did the advert contacted Stallone and he was up for it.
Now I don’t know Sylvester Stallone, since I’m just a fat guy with no job and no prospects living in Birmingham of all places, so he might not care about the money, he might just be up for anything as long as it doesn’t cut into his schedule. And hey, it can’t be worse than Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot.
As for the adverts themselves, they’re not bad, but nothing memorable either, except for the fact that they star Rmbo and The Terminator. Now that’s a film I want to see, Rambo vs Terminator.
